Carymoor Environmental Trust

Our Supporters

Thank you to every single person who has supported Carymoor in the past.  This support, however large or small, has enabled us to carry out our work providing environmental education, habitat creation, and rural craft skills over the last 25 years, often during some very tough times.

Our current supporters, providing grants or sponsorship are shown below.

We would also like to thank everyone who supports us with anonymous donations, regular giving, supporting our events, and buying our produce as well as those who generously give their time which is invaluable to us.

Biffa - our purpose is to change the way people think about waste

Biffa support our school education programmes through sponsorship. This support allows us to provide cost effective courses and events for schools so the future generation can learn about living a sustainable life. By educating communities and in particular the young, Biffa are proud to play their part in inspiring young people and our communities to help protect the Earth’s resources by changing the way people think about waste.

In our financial year ended 31 March 2023 their financial sponsorship helped us reach 3739 children. And we plan to reach over 4000 in the current financial year.

Meet our Ambassador Patrick Hughes.

Valencia Waste Management Limited, owned by Patrick, is committed to enriching the lives of those in the communities surrounding its sites. Through its restoration projects, the Company aims to create spaces that not only foster biodiversity but also serve as recreational and educational resources for the community. As a part of its values to enhance community wellbeing, the company is supporting our charity through the provision of our peppercorn lease and licence. Additionally, Patrick is supporting a National Lottery Funded project by giving permission to provide a training facility for adults with learning difficulties and disabilities.

The ongoing financial support for the management of the licenced area also allows us to support Valencia’s Aftercare goals in particular:

‘Enhancing Local Biodiversity - By creating habitats and ecosystems through our restoration projects, we aim to enhance local biodiversity. These reclaimed sites often become local parks, nature reserves or recreational spaces, contributing to the wellbeing of the community.’

National Lottery Community Fund

Thanks to a grant from the National Lottery Community Fund our Tuesday volunteering group is supported during 2023-24.

The Tuesday group is open to anyone who wants to get outside and who is looking to improve their physical and mental health. The group takes part in a wide range of activities, including hedgelaying, scything, horticulture and scrub clearance and play a vital part in helping to manage the nature reserve at Carymoor.

We are so grateful to the National Lottery Community Fund for supporting the group and enabling us to run this group for the local community.

Thank you to the Woodroffe Benton foundation for supporting our education programmes.

Thank you to the Merck Foundation for supporting our environmental education.

Thank you to Open Mental Health for supporting our regular Able2Achieve group.

Somerset Skills and Learning provide funding for people to attend health and well-being courses at Carymoor.  Our courses are designed to provide mindful activities learning new skills, teach practical rural skills or spend time in nature with your family.  These courses are extremely popular with our local community.

Somerset Council Waste Services

Funding from Somerset Council Waste Services supports our Schools Against Waste programme to allow us to visit primary schools in Somerset with our waste and environmental education.  Over 56,000 children have now benefiitted from a visit from our team and our programme helps to inspire young people to care for the environment and helps boost recycling rates for the County.

We are delighted to be taking part in the Enterprise Development programme in 2023/24 supported by Social Investment Business.
