Here are a few answers to some frequently asked questions which you may find useful before your visit to Carymoor.
What time do we need to arrive and leave?
Most groups arrive for 9.30/10am and leave at 2/2.30pm but we can be flexible. We recommend staying for at least 4 hours but we will tailor your day depending on how much time you have available.
How many adults do we need to bring?
Please bring enough adults to support the needs of your group and meet appropriate adult: pupil ratios for the activities your group will be taking part in. We are happy for you to bring as many adults as you would like to as it’s always useful to have extra pairs of hands. We don’t charge for accompanying adults. Although there is no recommendation in law as to how many adults you should bring we would recommend 1 adult to 8 children.
What clothing should we bring / wear?
All members of your group will need appropriate clothing for the activities and weather conditions on the day, such as warm, waterproof clothing or hats and sun cream in the summer months. For going out onto the nature reserve you’ll need robust, enclosed footwear such as wellies, walking boots or old trainers (no open toes or thin soles). Please also bring clean footwear to wear indoors and for your return coach journey. We also recommend that all members of your group wear long trousers and check themselves over for ticks after their visit. As with many areas of open grassland visited by deer and other wildlife there may be ticks on Carymoor’s nature reserve.
Can I have a risk assessment for the day?
We are very happy to provide you with a bespoke risk assessment for your day once we have agreed a timetable and date.
Is it possible to carry out a pre-visit in advance of a trip?
We are always happy to arrange a pre-visit and to show you the centre buildings and site. Just get in touch and we can arrange an appointment for this.
How do we pay?
We normally invoice for the visit at the end of the month following the visit but can invoice sooner if preferred.
Do we need to have a first aider and first aid kit for our group?
Please make sure you have a nominated first aider and first aid kit with each class. All of our Education Officers are trained first aiders and will be able to assist your group with first aid if needed.
