Vikings History Day (with bread)

Sail back to the fearsome time of the vicious Vikings! Dress up in simple tunics and experience Viking life as you take part in a variety of exciting activities such as:

  • *Cooking simple viking bread ‘twists’ over an open fire, sweetened with Carymoor honey. (*This activity is weather-dependent. If is too wet or windy to go ahead safely, we will provide an alternative activity of making woven willow plates instead.)
  • Grinding grain into flour using replica Quern stones
  • Decoding our runes to win some treasure
  • Navigating our orienteering quiz course to test your viking knowledge
  • Digging for Viking ‘artefacts’ in a Carymoor-style ‘archaeological dig’ game

Plus, time allowing:

  • Play some Viking-themed games
  • Decorate your own Viking ‘wood cookie’ name medallion

Due to the extra staff involved in cooking bread over an open fire this day is charged at a higher rate than our standard Vikings day.

PRICE BAND 3

(If we are unable to do the bread due to the weather conditions on the day, then it will be charged as a Band 2 day)

Feedback

  • We have been coming to Carymoor for many years and they never disappoint. The staff are all incredibly friendly, accommodating and flexible. We have enjoyed a wide range of activities which are all carefully planned and resourced and, most importantly, loved by the children. Thank you Carymoor and we look forward to seeing you next year!

  • I just wanted to say thank you SO much for a fantastic trip today. The children didn’t stop talking about what they did/learned and raved about the day. It was pitched perfectly and even staff learned something new! I will be recommending it to everyone I can. Brilliantly organised and engaging. Thanks again.
