Ahoy me hearties…avast ye! Our fun filled and action packed Eco Pirates day is sure to get your class engaged in sustainability, recycling and so much more.

The Carymoor Eco Pirates love the 3 Rs (Arrrghhhs!) and are well known for pillaging others’ rubbish and turning it into treasure. During your visit your class will join their crew and take part in these exciting activities:

Site tour including our interactive waste tunnel, compost pad and capped landfill site.
Play some piratey 3Rs games.
Transform newspaper into Parrot Potters and plant seeds in Carymoor compost to take home.

If you’d prefer, we can offer an Eco Superheroes or Explorers theme instead.

For my class it really hit home about the waste we generate. To think my old toys are still sitting in a field somewhere was quite shocking for them and me. The little ones are continuing there learning journey this week with activities in class based around what they experienced yesterday.

We had a superb day, Natalie was very accommodating with our timetable as we arrived late. We started with the hunter gatherer games to burn off some post coach energy. We loved dressing up and examining the artefacts. The children absolutely loved the quern stones, fire lighting and shelter building. Nothing but positive things to say. Staff and volunteers amazing - thank you.
