Reaching Communities

Suporting adults with learning disabilities

Published: 30th Jun 2023

We are delighted to have been awarded £109k by the National Lottery Reaching Communities fund to support our work with adults with learning disabilities at Carymoor.

This will enable us to upgrade some of our facilities and to provide rewarding and productive opportunities for adults with learning disabilities over the next 5 years.

Using our unique nature reserve as a base, we will be undertaking conservation activities, teaching craft activities, and helping to boost wellbeing and confidence.

A big thank you to the Reaching Communities team and for the support of everyone who plays the National Lottery.

We have also been successful in a bid to Open Mental Health for another £9,000 to support Able2Achieve.

These two grants will support the Able2Achieve learners who visit us weekly, and also fund some shorter 4 week courses for this group and trainees from The Hub.

This funding also means we can go ahead with replacing the outside toilet block behind the centre and building a new workshop opposite the wildflower collection.

We can’t wait to get started!
