Community Fund supports Volunteering at Carymoor

Published: 3rd Jul 2023

Carymoor's regular Tuesday volunteer group is a great opportunity to learn new skills and experience all the benefits of working in nature. Thanks to a grant from the National Lottery Community Fund our Tuesday group is supported during 2023-24.

The Tuesday group is open to anyone who wants to get outside and who is looking to improve their physical and mental health. The group takes part in a wide range of activities, including hedgelaying, scything, horticulture and scrub clearance and play a vital part in helping to manage the nature reserve at Carymoor.

Carymoor Chief Executive Rupert Farthing said 'Our volunteers play such a key role at Carymoor. We are only a small staff team and our volunteers enable us to achieve so much more. We can see the difference being at Carymoor makes to people. Spending time in nature is fantastic for our mental health and there is also the satisfaction of seeing how the time they give helps the wildlife to thrive. We are so grateful to the National Lottery Community Fund for supporting the group and enabling us to run this group for the local community.'
