Come and spend a relaxing morning with us at the Carymoor Nature Reserve, creating two beautiful bird feeders from willow.

Come and spend a relaxing morning with us at the Carymoor Nature Reserve, creating two beautiful bird feeders from willow. During the course, guided by your tutor, you will also have the opportunity to explore the Carymoor Nature Reserve and find out more about the amazing creatures that live amongst the willow.

 

What to expect:

 

  • A small group of a maximum of 5 people.
  • The session will be led by Carymoor's Education Manager, Karen Boswell.
  • We will be following social distancing guidelines to keep everyone safe. 
  • The course will be held in our outdoor classroom, so please wear suitable clothing. We would advise that you wear long trousers and sturdy shoes.

 

10.00-10.15am    Arrival, housekeeping, and introductions

10.15-11.00am    Explore our site - find out about the willow, harvest your own and hopefully spot some of the wonderful creatures that live on the nature reserve.

11.00-11.45am    First craft session

11.45-12.00pm    Break and snack

12.00-1pm          Second craft session

 

Make two different types of bird feeders to take home and hang in your garden (suitable for use with fat balls). One bird feeder will be made using a corn dolly style and the other will introduce you to two different weaving techniques called the three-rod wale and pairing.

Suitable for adults 18+.

Included: tuition, materials, use of our tools, workshop notes, nature reserve tour with a focus on the birds that live at Carymoor.

Suitable for beginners.

5 adults only.

Please bring your own refreshments. You are very welcome to stay and eat your lunch on the reserve.
