Animal Superheroes Science day (Yr 1 & 2)

Let us bring your Year 1 ‘Animals, including Humans’ or Year 2 ‘Living things and their Habitats’ topics to life as we discover which creatures have their own unique ‘superpowers’ to help them survive in the habitats at Carymoor!  Meet some awesome Animal Superheroes whose powers often surpass those of our favourite Superheroes from the movies. If your class would like to come dressed as Superheroes for the day, we would encourage them to do so!

Go on an action-packed discovery walk through our nature reserve, with fun activities linked to the creatures that live here and their ‘superpowers’, including: A dung beetle ‘dung ball’ rolling obstacle course; badger’s buffet game; and making some crazy camouflaged creatures!

Explore our pond habitat and find out about some of the remarkable ‘superpowers’ of the creatures that live there. Including Britain’s fastest flying insect and some amazing amphibians, plus make clay creatures (Year 1s) or willow dragonflies (year 2) to take home!

Please note: This day is only available  from March to July.

Feedback

  • We have been coming to Carymoor for many years and they never disappoint. The staff are all incredibly friendly, accommodating and flexible. We have enjoyed a wide range of activities which are all carefully planned and resourced and, most importantly, loved by the children. Thank you Carymoor and we look forward to seeing you next year!

  • We had a superb day, Natalie was very accommodating with our timetable as we arrived late. We started with the hunter gatherer games to burn off some post coach energy. We loved dressing up and examining the artefacts. The children absolutely loved the quern stones, fire lighting and shelter building. Nothing but positive things to say. Staff and volunteers amazing - thank you.

  • I just wanted to say thank you SO much for a fantastic trip today. The children didn’t stop talking about what they did/learned and raved about the day. It was pitched perfectly and even staff learned something new! I will be recommending it to everyone I can. Brilliantly organised and engaging. Thanks again.
