Minibeast Mayhem (EYFS & Yr1)

Explore two of Carymoor’s amazing habitats and discover more about the teeny tiny animals that live there!

We’ll find out:

  • What minibeasts look like at different stages of their life cycle
  • Similarities and differences between minibeasts fom different habitats
  • Amazing ways that minibeasts survive in their habitats
  • How to collect minibeasts in a gentle manner and understand why they should be returned to where they were found.

Depending on the time of year, we’ll either be hunting in the long grass of our meadow, under the logs in the woods or in and around our pond! As well as collecting, observing and classifying some marvellous minibeasts, we’ll also play some fun games to reinforce learning and make our own crazy creepy crawlies to take home, using clay and natural materials!

Please note: This day is only available from March – July

Feedback

We really enjoyed the pace of the day. The length on each activity was brilliant, the children were engaged and got a lot from them. There was independence and the expectation for the children to join in, this was helped with very enthusiastic staff.

Feedback

  • “…we had a fabulous time as always - a trip to Carymoor is always, without a doubt, the best school trip! If I could come every term I would!”

  • We had a superb day, Natalie was very accommodating with our timetable as we arrived late. We started with the hunter gatherer games to burn off some post coach energy. We loved dressing up and examining the artefacts. The children absolutely loved the quern stones, fire lighting and shelter building. Nothing but positive things to say. Staff and volunteers amazing - thank you.

  • We have been coming to Carymoor for many years and they never disappoint. The staff are all incredibly friendly, accommodating and flexible. We have enjoyed a wide range of activities which are all carefully planned and resourced and, most importantly, loved by the children. Thank you Carymoor and we look forward to seeing you next year!
