On Saturday 8th August, we held an open day to celebrate Carymoor’s 30th anniversary, welcoming around 250 visitors to experience everything that makes Carymoor so special.
The day was officially opened by Sarah Dyke MP, who gave a wonderful speech and set the tone perfectly. Sarah is pictured here with members of the Carymoor team and our volunteer John, who crafted a beautiful commemorative bench to mark the anniversary.
We were also delighted to be joined by our sponsors, Biffa, who provided information and advice on recycling and waste reduction.
The The Fixy Project attended too, collecting more than 470 tech items for reuse and recycling.
A huge thank you goes to our incredible volunteers, whose hard work made the day possible. From managing parking and baking cakes to running the café and supporting activities throughout the site, their dedication was instrumental to the success of the event.
From scything demonstrations and willow weaving to woodland family activities, pond dipping, metal detecting and much more, it was a fantastic opportunity for people to explore our nature reserve and see first-hand how Carymoor has transformed a former brownfield site into an incredible asset for both people and wildlife.
Finally, thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day such a memorable way to celebrate 30 years of Carymoor.
