Future Field Naturalists

Next session: Monday 14th April 2014

Plus further sessions each school holiday

Time: 2 pm - 4 pm

Are you between 8 and 12 years old? Are you wild about nature? Do you fancy yourself as the next Spring Watch presenter?! Yes! Then come along to our Future Field Naturalists' Club!

Following on from our successful Saturday sessions last year, combining investigating wildlife and developing I.D skills with fun, hands-on practical conservation activities, we'll now be running our nature club for 8 - 12 year-olds on one afternoon during each school holiday: Become a field naturalist

  • Mon 14th Apr, 2 pm - 4 pm:
    Amphibians and Other Pond Life

We have five amphibian species at Carymoor. We'll see how many we can find and investigate their springtime activities more closely. Then help us to create some new habitat for them too.
  • Tues 27th May, 2 pm - 4 pm:
    Plants and Pollinators

Find out about the variety of insects that pollinate the wildflowers at Carymoor: moths, butterflies, honey bees, bumble bees and more! Unpack our moth trap (weather permitting) and see who's been out pollinating at night and observe pollinators in action in our wildflower collection. Then help our Shrill Carder Bee project by planting out some wildflowers in our new meadow.

Charge: £5 per child per session. Suitable for 8-12 year olds (unaccompanied).

Booking essential: e-mail education@carymoor.org.uk or phone 01963 350143 to book your place!
