Plus further sessions each school holiday
Time: 2 pm - 4 pm
Are you between 8 and 12 years old? Are you wild about nature? Do you fancy yourself as the next Spring Watch presenter?! Yes! Then come along to our Future Field Naturalists' Club!
Following on from our successful Saturday sessions last year, combining investigating wildlife and developing I.D skills with fun, hands-on practical conservation activities, we'll now be running our nature club for 8 - 12 year-olds on one afternoon during each school holiday:
This time our nature club will exploring life in a dry stone wall. You may be surprised to discover just how many creatures call a dry stone wall 'home' - from snails, spiders and other minibeasts to larger creatures like stoats and weasels. We will build our very own mini wall at Carymoor and inspect it later in the year to see who has moved in.
There will be further sessions during each school holiday as follows:
10th April 2015: Camouflage
We will search for and try to find some of the wonderfully disguised creatures that live at Carymoor! Is that really a dead leaf? A twig? A few tiny stones…?!
29th May 2015: Marvellous Moths - Goats, tigers and elephants
Moths come in all shapes, sizes and colours and many have wonderful names! We will 'unpack' our moth trap set overnight and discover who we have caught, before planting some moth-friendly plants on site.
Charge: £6 per child per session. Suitable for 8-12 year olds (unaccompanied).
Booking essential: e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 01963 350143 to book your place!
