Family Fun Event - Gigantic Journeys

Half-term holiday: Wed 29th & Thurs 30th May 2013

Bring your family to Carymoor during the half-term holiday for our fun event and find out more about the amazing journeys that animals make!

Take a map with you on our Gigantic Journeys trail and work out who migrates where. Who leaves home in Africa and ends up in your back garden? Who thinks Iceland is the perfect spot for summer? Who makes the longest journey? Many creatures fly, but which ones prefer to go by sea instead?

Go on our binocular trail and see if you can spot some birds that have arrived after a Gigantic Journey all the way from Africa. Listen out for amazing travellers like the cuckoo and chiffchaff.

As usual we will have a fun mix of family-friendly crafts and activities:

  • Make paper-dart swifts and see if they fly!
  • Turn a plastic bottle into a basking shark and a jelly fish!
  • Play the swallow migration game
  • Make your own willow salmon
  • ...and lots more exciting things to do!

Enjoy some light refreshments, on sale in our education centre.

Charge: £10 per family (up to 4 people including at least one adult) plus £2.50 for each additional participant.
