Carymoor Environmental Trust

School Trips & Education

Bring your class to Carymoor for a unique and unforgettable educational experience.

With access to a Waste Transfer Station, capped landfill site, beautiful nature reserve, sensory and wild-flower gardens, replica shanty town, Celtic roundhouse, Forest School Area and sustainable buildings, we bring green issues to life all year round!

Our interactive history days also take in the Bronze Age and Iron Age through to the Anglo Saxons. Students can take part in shelter building, explore fire lighting techniques, learn how our ancestors hunted for food and what resources were essential for survival.

We also run Natural Disaster Days and Survival Days where students are given scenarios such as an earthquake and have to decide what their priorities would be for survival.  We use our Shanty Town as a resource for these days.

Our Day at the Dump and Eco Pirate days explore our history of landfill and what happens to our rubbish now.  Our interactive waste tunnel allows students to get up close to buried rubbish and to discuss what alternatives there are to landfill.

A firm favourite with schools are our wildlife themed days where we use our meadows, woods and wetlands to explore and educate children about local wildlife and the threats to habitats.  Henry the Hedgehog is a wonderful Autumn themed educational day for young children to explore hibernation themes.
