The trip diary in pics ......

The aim was to enhance our sustainability credentials by updating our current wind turbine, so that the Centre can be self-sufficient in energy.

To achieve this Carymoor must raise £8,000, so Graham Jennings, our Education Officer volunteered to help raise funds by cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats - The Carymoor Ride the Wind Challenge.

The Ride the Wind Challenge took a unique and unusual path incorporating fellow Eco-Centres en route. Carymoor met up with the large national network of people involved in environmental issues. However for Graham it meant a longer course than normal. The whole trip took 10 days, with Graham cycling on average over 100 miles a day!

Graham set off on Monday the 16th August and finished on Thursday 26 August 2004.
