A whole host of further and higher education courses can benefit from a visit to Carymoor Environmental Trust, including Geography, Geology, Biology, Civil Engineering, all Environmental Courses and Teacher Training Courses.. A tour of the capped/restored and operational landfill sites demonstrates the environmental and engineering factors associated with the UK's largest waste disposal method.

 

 

Visitors can witness first hand the scale and operational processes of a typical landfill operation.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The capped landfill and its periphery has a host of different ecological habitats including rough grassland, meadow grassland, scrub, ponds, ditches and reed beds. This is all accessible for ecological survey/study sessions. Indeed, the restoration of the capped landfill is being carried out in conjunction with researchers from a number of higher education establishments.
