The Somerset
Waste Action Programme (SWAP) is an outreach education team based
at the Carymoor Environmental Centre, near Castle Cary, next to
the Dimmer landfill site. The team has been in operation in Somerset
for 8 years and offers free visits to Somerset's schools and community
groups to promote waste minimisation, recycling, composting and
other forms of environmental action. We have two posts currently
vacant.
SCHOOLS AND
COMMUNITY OUTREACH OFFICER
Salary £19,367
This role involves
working with primary schools and youth groups, running workshops
and activities across Somerset. The post also involves a range of
community outreach tasks, including attending events and roadshows,
and visiting households door to door. This is an excellent opportunity
to join a small, award winning team and to help make a difference.
We are looking for a person with teaching experience and an enthusiasm
for environmental issues.

COMMUNITY
OUTREACH OFFICER
Salary £19,367
This position
is a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave. This role involves
working with community groups, giving talks and workshops, to promote
waste minimisation, recycling and composting. The job would also
involve attending roadshows, promoting cloth nappy use and helping
to co-ordinate Somerset's Compost Champions programme.
