The emphasis
of the course is on giving individuals ample opportunity to lay
a section of hedge. Tools provided will be bow saw and pruning saw.
Training will not be given in the use of the traditional hedging
tool, the billhook, as using one is a considerable skill which cannot
be taught safely and effectively within the limitations of a one-day
course. Individuals are welcome to bring along their own billhooks
and use them at their own risk if they wish. Instruction for the
course is provided by Jules Cross, a member of staff whose hedge
laying skills have been honed through various practical courses
and hands-on experience. He will provide you with an overview of
the various methods and styles of hedge laying and the tools that
are used.
