In
common with the rest of the country, Carymoor has seen a massive invasion
of painted ladies from Africa, with 74 counted on a single transect
walk. |

Small
tortiseshells are around in good numbers and appear to have recovered
from the downturn observed throughout the country last year. |

Several
Song Thrushes can be heard singing at Carymoor - a very welcome sound
as thrushes have declined to such an extent in recent years that they
are now considered a Red List species. The number of singing males
in our area suggests that numbers are increasing. |

|
The
first dragonflies and damselflies are emerging. This Large Red damselfly
was the first sighting, followed a day later by a Broad-bodied Chaser. |
